Pronouns: she/her

Hi! I'm Taylor.

I am the founder & primary psychotherapist here at The 4th Space. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for you being here - whether you're here to explore working with me in therapy, learn about our community events, or connect with our larger mission. Thank you for taking this step toward curiosity and care.

If intrigued about potentially working together in a therapeutic capacity, I invite you to read more below about me and my approach.

Taylor Loesekam, trauma-informed and LGBTQ+ affirming therapist in Ontario

My Story

I’ve always carried a deep sensitivity to the world around me. As a child, I longed for fairness, connection, and care — but I also saw how often the world felt disconnected, and at times indifferent, to those needs. I noticed the impact of limited access to mental health care, nourishing food, equitable education, and safe communities, and I learned how deeply these gaps shape the way we move through the world. When safety and belonging aren’t readily available, it’s easy to feel like we have to stay on guard — something many of us carry well into adulthood.

This awareness also turned inward. Coming to understand my identity as a bisexual woman in spiritually conservative spaces brought layers of tension and shame, leaving parts of me on high alert long before I understood why. For years, I tried to make sense of these patterns, but the most important shift began when I allowed myself to slow down and start noticing what I was carrying -- the tension in my body, the grief and uncertainty tucked away, the stories that different parts of me had been holding for decades. It wasn't a moment of "fixing" or instant resolution, but a step towards understanding and curiosity towards myself that I hadn't felt before.

Over time, approaching these parts with curiosity and compassion opened up a different kind of space inside me. It gave me room to recognize my own needs and explore what it meant to feel safe -- in my body, my identity, and my relationships. That same awareness is what eventually inspired The 4th Space: a place where care, understanding, and intentional safety can be offered to others.

In therapy with me, you’ll find a space where your own hidden parts can be welcomed with compassion. Together, we’ll slow down, turn inward, and gently work with the stories you’ve been carrying. My hope is that this work helps you find relief while reconnecting with the wholeness and belonging you've always deserved.

My Approach

Therapy with me is collaborative, relational, and deeply attuned to your unique story. I don't see you as a problem to be fixed, but as a whole person carrying wisdom, resilience, and parts of yourself that have often had to work too hard just to get by. My role is to offer a safe space where those parts can be heard, softened, and cared for with compassion.

I draw from somatic, experiential, and relational therapies - all of which are approaches that help us slow down, notice what's happening in your body, and understand how past experiences still echo in the present. My work is also informed by feminist, queer, and liberation psychology, meaning I hold an awareness of how culture, systems, spirituality, and identity shape our inner lives.

In our sessions, we move at your pace. Sometimes that means making space for grief or tenderness, other times it means practicing new ways of relating to yourself and others. Always, it means you don't have to navigate it alone.

The 4th Space operates on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. Toronto, or Tkaronto, is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that this land is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit and is part of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between Indigenous nations to share and care for the land, its waters, and its resources in harmony.

At The 4th Space, we reflect on what it means to inhabit this land and commit to engaging in practices that honour its original stewards. We strive to learn, unlearn, and take actionable steps toward reconciliation while remaining mindful of the ongoing impacts of colonization. This acknowledgment is just one small part of our larger responsibility to support healing, justice, and equity in the communities we serve.
